System Administrator

The System Administrator is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and the related infrastructure. This individual participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure while conforming to organizational budgets and needs. These activities include the definition of needs, benefits, and technical strategy; research & development; technical analysis and design; and support of operations staff in executing, testing and rolling-out of solutions.

Essential Job Functions

The System Administrator is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and the related infrastructure. This individual participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure while conforming to organizational budgets and needs. These activities include the definition of needs, benefits, and technical strategy; research & development; technical analysis and design; and support of operations staff in executing, testing and rolling-out of solutions.

  • Maintains installation, configuration, and operational procedures.
  • Researches and recommends innovative, and where possible automated
  • approaches for system administration tasks 
  • Support of Microsoft Server 2012 R2, SQL 2012, and the
  • related server infrastructure (mostly all virtual, VMware)
  • Experience with VMware Virtualization Software
  • Experience Cisco and Cisco Meraki Switches and AP’s
  • Troubleshooting and support of Microsoft Remote App and Remote Desktop
  • Helps support the Nimble SAN and Veeam Backup Software
  • Reviews system and application logs, perform daily system monitoring
  • Experience with Microsoft Office 365
  • Verifies the completion of scheduled jobs such as backups
  • Verifies the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, and systems processes

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Core Networking and Server fundamentals
  • Must be able to clearly explain concepts and problems to employees in non-technical terms

Minimum Experience and Training Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent work experience
  • Certifications preferred (MCSE, VCP, etc.)
  • Three+ years of experience as a Systems Administrator
