Recreational programs offer a variety of activities for all ages and ability levels. Opportunities to participate are available in our Springfield and Monett Divisions.

About Recreational Programs

Individuals who want to broaden social skills and develop independence are encouraged to participate in one of our many activities. The Arc is proud to offer activity services that provide individuals with disabilities access to gymnasiums, a pool, summer camp, and other fun opportunities. Education & Recreation

Local Springfield Activity Center

All programs take place at the Timothy Grant Newport Activity Center located in Springfield, Missouri. The center contains a full-sized gym and pool with all necessary equipment for assisting individuals with disabilities to live a healthy and active lifestyle.

No Limits Summer Camp

Exciting Summer Fun for All Ages!

 

 

The Arc’s No Limits Summer Camp Program offers fun for children and young adults ages 6-21 with disabilities. Our multi-week program promotes the educational and recreational interest of each camper. Campers will enjoy swimming, games, arts and crafts, community field trips and more.

What makes No Limits Summer Camp unique? Campers continue their learning, helping to maintain their Individualized Education Program (IEP) plan set for them during the school year while making friends and having fun. The No Limits Summer Camp could not be possible without our friends at AbilitiesFirst!

Summer Camp 2023 will be offered in two 4-week sessions.

  • Each session will run: Monday-Friday, 9am-3pm.
  • Session 1: June 5th – June 30th
  • Session 2: July 10th – August 4th
  • Space is limited.  The selection of participants will be made in accordance with funding and staff availability.

Weekend Recreation Schedule

Weekend Activities Children & Adults with Disabilities

The Arc offers structured recreational programs in Springfield and Monett for children and young adults with disabilities.

 

Similar to our summer camp program, activities include arts and crafts, games, swimming, community outings and more. Participants look forward to learning skills and tools to use at home and in the community. Contact a Division office near you for information on recreation schedules and registration requirements.

Lifetime of Learning

Continued Learning Opportunities

Adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities continue their education and improve skills through the Lifetime of Learning Program in Springfield. Participants have the opportunity to successfully apply what they learn to everyday life. Program meeting times vary and can be found on the Lifetime of Learning Calendar.

 

Pool

Aquatic Therapy for People with Disabilities

The Arc pool is available for individuals to practice and improve swim technique while establishing confidence in and around the water. Our pool area includes a heated indoor pool and wading pool.

Therapy devices, a water-powered lift, life jackets and other recreational equipment are available to enhance the swimming experience.

The facility is open to the public at a minimal cost per person and is free of charge to individuals receiving services from The Arc.
