THE ARC OF THE OZARKS FOUNDATION
...providing financial stability for those with developmental disabilities
Founded out of love for their children with mental and developmental disabilities, a group of parents began a grassroots movement in the early 1950's that changed the long history of segregation and isolation of children and adults with developmental disabilities. While some of the names and faces changed over five decades, The Arc of the Ozarks remained steadfast in the vision of the founding families - daring to dream of a society where all people are accepted for their unique abilities and contributions.
The Arc of the Ozarks is a nonprofit organization and Southwest Missouri's largest provider of comprehensive services and support for people with disabilities and their families. Each year, The Arc of the Ozarks serves over 1,000 individuals and families, often throughout their lifetime. From intervention therapies to in-home or individual living support, The Arc of the Ozarks provides a full spectrum of services for people of adolescent age, as well as their families through their senior years.
The Arc of the Ozarks is proud to provide lifelong support and programs for individuals with disabilities. It continues to be a leader in systemic change. The Arc of the Ozarks is highly regarded as a well managed and efficient organization that listens to consumers and their families, then explores ways to find and fund solutions in order to meet their needs.

Ways to Give wisely.
Tax-wise Giving/Life Income Planning
You don't have to use cash to make your gift. A gift of an appreciated asset such as securities or real estate may be a better way to make your donation – due to the tax benefits. In some cases, a gift of personal property such as rare books or antiques might be the best way for you to make a gift. You can make a gift that costs you nothing during your lifetime by making The Arc of the Ozarks a beneficiary of a life insurance policy or your retirement plan - such as your IRA or 401(k). You can make us a partner in your giving by making a gift that pays you a lifetime income – such as a charitable gift annuity or charitable trust.
Gifts of Life Insurance
Life insurance is an easy, economical way to give a larger gift to The Arc Foundation. Gifts of Retirement assets (such as IRA, 401(k), Keogh and other qualified plans) Retirement accounts can be subject to both income and estate taxes – significantly reducing the amount that passes to your heirs. These taxes can be reduced or avoided through a carefully structured charitable gift. Your gift might pass directly to The Arc of the Ozarks Foundation as a beneficiary, or as a remainder beneficiary after a lifetime of income to you, a family member or a friend.
Charitable Gift Annuity
A gift annuity is a simple, contractual agreement between a donor and The Arc of the Ozarks Foundation where you transfer assets to us in exchange for our promise to pay a fixed sum to one or two individuals (annuitants) for life. The rates are higher for older annuitants and lower for younger annuitants, based upon life expectancy. As a result, gift annuities are particularly attractive to someone looking for a stable income with valuable tax benefits. Stocks paying dividends at a low rate can often be converted to produce more income through a charitable gift annuity. We can provide you with information about current rates or a personal illustration.
Charitable Trusts
A charitable trust can be designed to fit your own special needs. You may wish to provide an income for yourself or another beneficiary and benefit The Arc of the Ozarks Foundation later. Or, you may wish to make current gifts to the Foundation and maximize the assets that would pass to your heirs. Your goals might include income and estate tax savings, in addition to leaving a legacy through a named endowment fund. You can decide how much you would like to put into the trust and determine the rate of income return.
